Terry & Elsa
These are pics of Elsa and I. First one we going for a drive around the country roads of Cape Breton and second one is at our residence. Elsa is a Yorkiepoo mixed breed, currently 6 years old. I got her when she was 1 year old from my Niece, who could no longer care for her. At the time I did not want to take her, because I was currently nursing an older poodle that had hip dysplasia, limited days to live and needed all of my attention. My girlfriend decided to take Elsa anyways without my approval. The first week we had her, I totally ignored her. Then without warning, a week later Elsa decided that I needed her more than I thought. She jumped onto my lap and chose me without my consent, seeing this, I had no choice but to accept her as mine. Since then we have been inseparable, I take her everywhere I go. I`ve even registered her as a PTSD Service Dog through the Assistance Dogs of America, vest and license supplied by them and this has been accepted at every restaurant, theatre and every public venue I have ever been with her since. She has had no official training, except the training I have given her. To be honest, I really don’t know what I would do without her beside me. Elsa gives me the courage and confidence to go where I don’t want to go. She definitely knows when I get triggered and has a way of calming me down and taking my mind
elsewhere. Elsa consistently gets compliments from the public and staff of every place we go, no one can believe how well-mannered a smaller dog can be. Some people have even walk up to me in the mall and are amazed that she’s an actual dog, as they had thought she was a stuffed animal toy...lol
